Eagles to hire 'the Hulk' to join Vic Fangio's defensive staff
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles are continuing to upgrade their coaching staff under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Eagles are expected to hire former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt as their defensive line coach.

From Hurtt's Hulk-like appearance, you may think he played in the league himself, but that isn't the case.

However, his 6-foot-5 and nearly 300-pound build didn't go to complete waste as he played collegiately for the Miami Hurricanes.

From there, Hurtt made his way into coaching as a grad assistant with the Canes from 2003 to 2004. He rejoined them as a defensive line coach for four seasons in 2006.

Hurtt jumped to the pro level in 2014 with the Chicago Bears as an assistant linebacker coach before being promoted to outside linebackers coach under Fangio's defense the following season.

In 2017, Hurtt joined the Seattle Seahawks as an assistant head coach and defensive line coach. He was named Seattle's defensive coordinator in 2022.

Hurtt is credited with developing key Seahawks defenders Bobby Wagner, Jarran Reed, Darrell Taylor, Uchenna Nwosu, Boye Mafe, and Quandre Diggs, to name a few.

Pelissero also reports that Hurtt's assistant Karl Scott is expected to tag along with him in Philly.
