Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Fires Massive Shot At Giants Fans
Kyle Ross-USA TODAY Sports

Saquon Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, breaking the hearts of many New York Giants fans in the process.

Barkley spent the first six years of his career with the Giants, but ultimately chose to join their NFC East division rivals back in March.

While most New York fans have accepted the reality and understand the business side of things, some of the Big Blue faithful are still feeling scorned.

Barkley made an appearance at Game 6 of the Philadelphia 76ers-New York Knicks first-round NBA playoff series on Thursday night, and apparently, he heard it from some of the New York fans in attendance (even though the game was played in Philadelphia).

Afterward, Barkley took to social media to express his displeasure.

The star running back then got into an exchange with a Giants fan in the process.

While Barkley has a point, it’s probably time to stop engaging with New York fans on social media and start focusing on the 2024 campaign ahead.

Look, it has to be irritating to constantly hear this noise from fans of your former team, especially when that team didn’t even offer you a contract.

But we have heard this song and dance from Barkley before. He has made it very clear the last month-and-a-half that the Giants never offered him a contract, and from New York’s perspective, it’s perfectly understandable given his injury history and the fact that the club had so many other holes to fill.

Plus, let’s face it: halfbacks are not nearly as valuable as they once were.

Barkley has said his piece. Giants fans have said theirs.

It’s time for everyone to just move on and come to grips with the fact that Barkley is now a member of the Eagles.

Of course, Barkley will probably still hear it from New Yorkers regardless. That’s the nature of sports. But at this point, it’s on him to just ignore it and focus on football.

We’ll see what Saquon Barkley can bring to the table in Philly next season, and he will obviously have his meeting at MetLife Stadium circled on his calendar whenever the NFL schedule is released, which will probably be fairly soon.
