Kentucky Wildcats: Rob Dillingham Gets Real About Potentially Playing Alongside Victor Wembanyama
Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats have a reputation for producing great NBA players, and Rob Dillingham could be the next big thing in the league from Lexington. Dillingham is expected to go early in the 2024 NBA Draft next month, which means the possibility of the San Antonio Spurs landing the former Wildcats star is considerably high.

Kentucky Wildcats Star Sounds off on Potentially Teaming up With Victor Wembanyama

Asked about Victor Wembanyama, last year’s top pick, and his thoughts on potentially playing with the French unicorn, Dillingham seemed very welcome to the idea of him and Wemby teaming up on the court.

Via Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News:

“That was the craziest first year in a long time,” Dillingham said of Wembanyama’s historic numbers. “He could be one of the best players ever. If I’m playing with Wemby, it’s obvious: I am coming in to give Wemby the ball.”

The Spurs could try to land an elite point guard in the coming draft as it was a position of weakness for the team in the 2023-24 NBA season. San Antonio tried to experiment using Jeremy Sochan as a point guard but that did not seem to do very well. Someone like Dillingham could provide a permanent solution there for the Spurs, who went just 22-60 in Wembanyama’s first season in the NBA.

In his only season with the Wildcats, Dillingham averaged 15.2 points, 3.9 assistss, and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 47.5 percent from teh field and 44.4 percent from deep.
